Our History & Mission
Since 1974, this camp has been building better runners—and better people. Originally founded as Clear Lake Cross Country Camp, we've spent five decades refining an approach that develops the complete athlete. Now, under new leadership and with a fresh vision, we're proud to continue this legacy as White Pass Running Camp.
Our mission is simple but powerful: to help every runner discover their potential, regardless of where they're starting from. Whether you're trying out for your first cross country team or aiming for championship season, you'll find a place here.
Since 1984, we've called White Pass Ski Resort home, training at elevations between 4,500 and 6,000 feet in the stunning Washington Cascades. Each summer, over 420 runners from across the Northwest, Alaska, and California join us for six transformative days of training, learning, and community. With new leadership committed to honoring our storied past while embracing the future of distance running, we're excited to welcome the next generation of runners to White Pass.
What Makes Us Different
Every Runner Matters
Unlike camps that focus only on elite athletes, we design our program for runners of all abilities and experience levels. Our coaches meet you where you are and help you get where you want to go. First-year runners train alongside seasoned competitors, and everyone grows.
Elevation Advantage
Training at altitude isn't just for Olympic athletes. Our location at White Pass gives every camper the physiological benefits of elevation training, helping you build strength and endurance that translates to faster times at sea level.
More Than Miles
Running is just the beginning. Our comprehensive educational program covers everything young athletes need to know: nutrition, injury prevention, race strategy, flexibility training, workout planning, goal setting, leadership development, and preparing for college athletics. These aren't optional add-ons—they're core to who we are.
Community Over Competition
Yes, we have time trials and the legendary Mountain Challenge. But what campers remember most is the community—the late-night condo conversations, the group long runs, the relay teams cheering each other on. You'll leave with teammates who become lifelong friends.
Five Decades of Expertise
Our coaching staff brings deep experience and a proven approach refined over 50 years. Under new leadership, we're building on this strong foundation while bringing fresh energy and innovation to how we develop young runners.
